Job summary

M&T Bank Corporation seeks an Engineering Team Lead to guide the team delivering modern enrollment and onboarding experiences across digital banking channels. You will blend technical leadership, people leadership, and stakeholder engagement from Buffalo, NY.

Responsibilities include mentoring engineers, driving strategic initiatives, and partnering with Product, Architecture, UX, and business stakeholders to set priorities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 9 years combined higher education and/or work experience, including at least 4 years in engineering and/or architecture and 3 years in leadership.
• Strong Java, Spring Boot, API, and microservices expertise.
• Experience with Angular and/or React development.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and large programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a high-performing team of software engineers.
• Drive delivery of enrollment and onboarding initiatives.
• Partner with Product, Architecture, UX, and business stakeholders to define priorities and roadmaps.
• Provide technical leadership across full-stack solutions using Java/Spring Boot and modern web technologies.
• Ensure delivery excellence through Agile practices, CI/CD, test automation, and engineering best practices.
• Manage technical dependencies, risks, and cross-team coordination.
• Support cloud modernization and digital transformation initiatives.
• Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
