Job summary

M&T Bank in Buffalo, NY seeks an Engineering Team Lead to guide the team delivering modern enrollment and onboarding experiences across digital channels, combining technical leadership with people leadership and stakeholder engagement.

You will mentor engineers, drive delivery of enrollment initiatives, partner with Product, Architecture, UX, and business partners to define roadmaps, and ensure delivery excellence through Agile, CI/CD, and test automation.

Qualifications

Minimum 9 years of combined higher education and/or work experience.
At least 4 years engineering/architecture and 3 years leadership experience.
Strong Java, Spring Boot, API, and microservices expertise.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a high-performing team of software engineers.
Drive delivery of enrollment and onboarding initiatives.
Partner with Product, Architecture, UX, and business stakeholders to define roadmaps.
Provide technical leadership across full-stack solutions using Java, Spring Boot, APIs, and modern web technologies.
Ensure delivery excellence through Agile practices, CI/CD, test automation, and engineering best practices.
Manage technical dependencies, risks, and cross-team coordination.
Support cloud modernization and digital transformation initiatives.
