Job summary

Albemarle County Public Schools is seeking a Lead Custodian for Mountain View Upper Elementary School. This full-time role oversees cleaning and maintenance, coordinates a team of custodians, and ensures safety and cleanliness to APPA Level 2 standards.

The position requires supervisory experience and a high school diploma, with health clearance and a valid driver’s license. Responsibilities include scheduling, inspections, and training new staff, in addition to routine cleaning and floor care.

Qualifications

• Two years custodial or janitorial experience and at least one year in a supervisory or team-lead role.
• Possession of ACPS Custodial Certification may substitute for supervisory experience.
• Satisfactory health condition and negative drug/tuberculin tests; valid VA driver's license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate cleaning and maintenance to APPA Level 2 standards.
• Assign tasks, monitor performance, and approve time records.
• Schedule coverage for events and coordinate with evening staff and leadership.
• Maintain safety, order supplies, inspect facilities, and communicate with occupants.
