Job summary

Plaid is seeking its first dedicated Sales Engineer for Regulated Industries to partner with Enterprise Account Executives as their technical lead and build this function across Public Sector, Education, Healthcare, Utilities.

You will help customers translate Plaid’s solutions into real-world use cases across payments, identity, fraud, onboarding, and income verification, while collaborating with Product, Partnerships, and Marketing to shape go-to-market motions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of customer-facing technical selling or engineering experience.
• 3+ years supporting regulated industries (Public Sector, Healthcare, Education, Utilities).
• Hands-on API and web/mobile architecture knowledge; ability to build demos.
• Ability to partner with Account Executives and cross-functional teams.
• Willing to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical advisory from discovery through solution design and post-sale handoff.
• Partner with AEs to map technical capabilities to business value in regulated industries.
• Lead demos, architecture design, and RFIs/RFPs for payments, onboarding, income verification, and fraud.
• Run API pilots/POCs; define success criteria and integration tradeoffs.
• Surface privacy, security, and compliance requirements early; coordinate reviews.
• Create reusable solution guides and reference architectures.
• Collaborate with Product, Legal, Compliance, and Security on feedback.
• Support handoffs and partner-led adoption with SE team.
