Job summary

Mercy Health in Youngstown seeks a Lead RN/Charge Nurse to coordinate patient care on a designated unit, partnering with the Clinical Manager to promote clinical excellence and optimal resource use.

The role requires nursing leadership, patient-family communication, and hands-on guidance for staff. A BSN is preferred, with RN license and BLS; advanced certifications like PALS/ACLS/NRP are desirable.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state they are practicing or covered by compact (required).
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred prior to entering patient care).
• Certifications based on unit leadership: PALS, ACLS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, NBD Certification, Nurse Executive or specialty certifications (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care on a designated unit in collaboration with the Clinical Manager.
• Adjust schedules and patient assignments to meet acuity and resource needs.
• Provide guidance to staff and oversee unit in the absence of the unit leader.
• Maintain infection control and environmental safety knowledge.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families about care plans.
• Round on patients to evaluate safety, quality and experience.
• Serve as a resource and preceptor for staff and foster teamwork.
• Lead interprofessional collaboration to ensure care coordination and continuity.
• Resolve operational problems by coordinating with other departments.
• Support mission and adherence to organizational policies.
