Job summary

Qualus is seeking experienced Relay Testing Professionals in the Field Engineering department. The role focuses on commissioning and testing protection schemes for utility substations and plants, including IED-based protection, control, and SCADA interfaces, with opportunities for mentorship and career growth.

Senior and Lead levels require strong technical expertise, the ability to lead teams, perform end-to-end testing, and travel with housing provided for client sites across the US.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relay testing and commissioning experience in substations.
• Associate degree holders may be Technicians; Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering may be Engineers.
• Experience with volt-ohm-meter use and hand tools.
• Ability to read One Line, AC/DC Elementary and Wiring diagrams.
• Ability to perform field work in varied environments and weather.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Excellent English communication for safety-related materials and client interactions.

Responsibilities

• Red-lines design documents across the drawing set (Single Line, AC/DC Elementary, Wiring).
• Perform End-To-End testing and IED testing with automated test sets.
• Develop test plans, risk assessments, and practical protection/control system applications.
• Analyze scope and drawings to create functional guidelines and risk assessments.
• Lead people and tasks within projects and provide technical leadership.
• Conduct weekly site safety inspections and ensure compliance with policies.
