Job summary

The State of Hawai'i is seeking a Cook II to independently prepare a variety of entrees and principal meal items in a kitchen with potentially multiple stations and large meal service.

This position requires a willingness to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with thorough adherence to food safety and quality standards. Prior quantity cooking experience preferred for faster onboarding.

Qualifications

• Legal Authorization to Work in the United States as required by State of Hawaii government employment.
• Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in general quantity cooking.
• Ability to independently prepare a variety of foods using multiple cooking methods (roasting, baking, broiling, frying).
• Experience in large-scale cooking operations and serving a large number of meals.

Responsibilities

• The Cook II is at the fully competent level and independently cooks a variety of entrees and principal meal items.
• May supervise a cooking station and kitchen helpers; may be assigned to larger kitchen operations with multiple stations.
