Job summary

The State of Hawaiʻi's Maui Community Correctional Center in Wailuku is seeking a Cook II to prepare a variety of entrees for a large facility. The position requires willingness to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

You will cook meals, may supervise kitchen helpers, and could oversee a cooking station in a multi-station kitchen. Applicants must have quantity cooking experience and pass required screenings.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in general quantity cooking.
• Experience with preparing various foods using roasting, baking, broiling or frying.
• Experience cooking for large groups in a restaurant, hospital, school or correctional facility.
• Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license.
• Substitutions may apply as described in the minimum qualifications.
• Eligible applicants may be subject to drug screening and background checks.

• Cook a variety of entrees and principal meal items at a fully competent level.
• May supervise a cooking station and kitchen helpers in a multi-station kitchen.
• Serve a large number of meals and ensure quality and safety standards.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
