Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Lead Quality Control Engineer (LQCE) to manage QC on projects and provide guidance on quality control policies and procedures. This safety-sensitive role may mentor junior engineers and handle QC across multiple projects, both in the field and office.

The position requires a 4-year degree in civil/structural engineering or construction management and 3–5 years of experience on large commercial construction projects.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture or construction management.
• Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience on large commercial construction projects.
• Strong communication skills.
• Capable of comprehending specifications, standards, and code requirements for all disciplines (architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical).
• Microsoft Office Suite, Excel-based templates, Prolog, Primavera and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Review and update the project quality process log (QPL) and provide comments to the QC manager.
• Direct the removal and replacement of non-conforming work and stop work not in compliance with the contract.
• Be fully aware of the contract, plans, specifications and applicable codes.
• Submit and review RFIs to ensure changes are implemented in the field.
• Coordinate daily test and inspection schedule from trade partner test/inspection requests.
• Participate in work completion tagging, punch list processes, and documenting deficiencies.
• Audit trade partner quality control procedures and participate in quality recognition programs.
• Participate in CIP and lessons learned, advocating for these programs.
• Perform safety and housekeeping inspections through the SAFE program.
