Mode Mobile, LLC is seeking a Lead QA Engineer to own testing strategy across our projects and ensure quality aligns with business goals.

You'll split time between manual and automated testing, mentor engineers, and drive risk-based decision making for automation and testing scope.

As a remote-first US agency, you’ll influence QA practices across client environments while collaborating with stakeholders and delivering reliable software.

Qualifications

• 6-8 years in software quality assurance or testing, ideally with multi-stakeholder environments.
• Hands-on Playwright experience to build/maintain automated test suites.
• Experience using BrowserStack for cross-browser/device validation.
• Strong manual, exploratory, and regression testing judgment.
• Ability to translate ambiguous requirements into concrete test plans.
• Excellent Jira practices for traceability and clear defect reporting.
• Experience testing across CMS or SaaS environments.
• Outstanding communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven leadership on large or multi-phase projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead test strategy and quality standards across multiple projects.
• Build and maintain automated suites in Playwright; validate with BrowserStack.
• Perform deep manual/exploratory testing where automation isn’t ideal.
• Translate requirements into test plans and acceptance criteria.
• Communicate risk and negotiate testing timelines with stakeholders.
• Write clear defect reports in Jira and drive fixes to resolution.
• Mentor other QA engineers in manual and automation practices.
• Assess quality risk on any project phase and plot a path forward.
• Stay ahead of testing tools and advocate purposeful tool adoption.
