Job summary

Current is seeking a Lead QA Engineer to own testing strategy across multiple projects. You will lead automation with Playwright, validate across browsers with BrowserStack, and mentor QA engineers, driving clear defect reporting and risk mitigation.

You will translate requirements into robust test plans, guide testing timelines with stakeholders, and champion scalable QA practices across CMS/SaaS environments.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years of experience in software quality assurance/testing, ideally with multi-stakeholder environments.
• Strong, hands-on experience with Playwright for automation.
• Experience using BrowserStack to validate across browsers/devices.
• Deep grounding in manual, exploratory, and regression testing; know when to automate.
• Proven ability to translate ambiguous requirements into concrete test plans and acceptance criteria.
• Strong Jira practice: writing tickets clearly with traceability and minimal follow-up.
• Experience testing across CMS or SaaS platforms with diverse environments.
• Excellent communication skills to present risk and testing tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Prior experience as a technical/testing lead on large or multi-phase projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead test strategy and quality standards across multiple projects, deciding automated vs manual testing.
• Build and maintain automated test suites in Playwright; use BrowserStack for cross-browser validation.
• Conduct deep manual/exploratory testing on high-change-rate work where automation isn’t ideal yet.
• Translate requirements into test plans and acceptance criteria; identify gaps early.
• Act as the technical quality point of contact with stakeholders; negotiate testing timelines.
• Write clear defect reports in Jira and drive fixes to retest success.
• Keep testing work traceable using Jira linking and epics; flag workflow friction.
• Mentor QA engineers in manual and automation practices to raise overall quality.
• Assess project phase quality risk and chart concrete paths forward.
• Stay ahead of testing tools and practices, and judiciously adopt AI tooling.
