Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle, WA is seeking a Senior Propulsion Engineer to lead the Blue Thrusters Valve product line, guiding design, test, and qualification from requirements through production.

You will collaborate with systems, propulsion, electrical, and software teams, mentor engineers, and drive design reviews while maintaining safety, quality, and reliability across high‑performance aerospace hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years designing and developing fluid control hardware for aerospace/high‑reliability.
• Hands‑on experience with electromechanical (solenoid) and pneumatically actuated valves.
• Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, mechanical design, EM design, and structural mechanics.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (Creo preferred) and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Experience with hardware fabrication, integration, and quality control.
• Excellent communication and leadership across stakeholders.
• US citizen or eligible status for U.S. work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical authority for Blue Thrusters Valve product line.
• Mentor valve engineers in design, manufacturing, and test.
• Develop and maintain teamield design, build, and test standards.
• Perform fluid, structural, and electromagnetic analyses; document results.
• Define margin strategies to meet requirements with cost/mass balance.
• Collaborate with systems, propulsion, electrical, and software teams.
• Lead design reviews and mentor peers to engineering excellence.
• Coordinate with suppliers on component development and issues.
• Support fabrication, assembly, and testing of flight hardware.
• Author and review technical reports, qualification packages, and specs.
