Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Minneapolis is seeking a Project Manager to lead multi-discipline engineering programs from inception to completion. You will oversee safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, and client relations across EPC, construction, and program management projects.

Your role includes building project teams, managing RFPs, schedules, and budgets, and serving as the primary client contact.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in engineering, construction management or related field from accredited program and 7 years applicable experience
  • Prior experience on construction project sites or executing program management in aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, process, transmission & distribution, or water is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding work environment, ability to work overtime on short notice.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others (owners, contractors, engineers, designers) in a multi-disciplined project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
  • Strong experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership of multi-discipline projects from concept to completion.
  • Establish project teams, coordinate activities of multiple disciplines, and ensure efficient staff utilization.
  • Manage all aspects of project communication.
  • Lead the PM team in RFP package development, bid and selection process, and scope documents.
  • Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope, and control costs.
  • Serve as the primary client contact for coordination and planning.
  • Manage review, negotiation, approval, and execution of prime contracts and subcontracts.
  • Lead internal and external project risk reviews with Risk Department.
  • Manage cost forecasts and accruals to clients and leadership.
  • Oversee project controls: cost reporting, scheduling, WBS, setup and closeout.
  • Monitor progress and steer schedules, productivity, budgets, quality, and profitability.
  • Responsible for contract closeout activities.
  • Generate new business by developing client relationships.
  • Adhere to safety programs and promote health performance.
  • Participate in conferences/committees.
  • Mentor less experienced staff.
  • QA/QC adherence and safety compliance.
  • Comply with company/site safety policies.
