Job summary

American Electric Power in Tulsa, OK is seeking a Project Manager to lead and assist in managing base to complex projects within a matrix team. The position requires a degree in a related field with experience, PPC certification preferred, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, Computer Science, or related field with 3 years experience.
Two-year Associate’s degree in the same disciplines with 5 years of qualified experience.
3 years of qualified experience as a PROJECT MANAGER ASSOCIATE (Grade 6) preferred, or demonstrated competencies.
PMP certification is preferred but not required. Certification is required for advancement to the Project Manager Principal level (grade 009).
Valid state driver's license is required.
Travel typically 25% or less.

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate assigned project activities.
Develop and coordinate the project plan, schedule, budget, tools, and staff.
Lead planning meetings and provide status updates to stakeholders.
Coach and develop team members on project management skills.
Ensure compliance with the AEP System Safety Process and safe working practices.
Manage procurement plans and contracts for outside services.
Conduct closeout processes and assess project objectives and benefits.
