Job summary

American Electric Power seeks an experienced project manager to lead intermediate and complex projects within a matrix team. You will guide initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure with a focus on safety, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

You will supervise plans, budgets, and resources, coordinate with internal/external teams, and communicate progress through detailed reports and presentations. A PMP is preferred; travel and field duties may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business, project management, computer science, or related field with three (3) years qualified experience
• Two-year Associate’s degree in same disciplines with five (5) years of qualified experience
• High School Diploma/GED with seven (7) years qualified experience
• Qualified experience includes project management, major construction field experience, project estimating, controls, engineering, and related experience

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and supervise assigned project and outage work activities for customers
• Use project management principles (Waterfall, Agile) for the organization
• Maintain safety policies and a safe working environment
• Manage project/outage plans, schedules, budgets, tools and staff
• Lead planning meetings and provide stakeholder presentations
• Develop written reports and manage relationships with internal/external customers and vendors
• Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to team members
• Represent AEP with customers, vendors, and regulators as needed
• Develop and manage procurement plans and oversee outside contracts
• Manage project closeout and assess realization of project benefits
• Adhere to AEP governance standards for project management
