Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a Project Engineer to be located on our Iowa Jobsites in Cedar Rapids or Des Moines, IA. You will support commercial and mission critical projects using state‑of‑the‑art technology and work with industry experts for strong career growth.

You will assist with planning, buyout, management and closeout while helping monitor schedule and budget. Reports typically to the Project Manager and collaborates with the project team to deliver successful outcomes.

Qualifications

Minimum two (2) years of project engineering experience.
Experience in a fast‑paced environment.
Proven history of leading others and mentoring.
Industry related college degree.
Data center experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Organize, review, update, maintain and post construction documents and drawings.
Collaborate with project team to complete RFIs.
Review submittals for accuracy against plans and specs.
Assist in inspections, audits and non‑conformance log.
Monitor material and equipment delivery status.
Maintain project logs (buyouts, submittals, RFIs).
Understand scopes of work for subcontracts or purchase orders.
Track subcontractor change requests and draft change orders.
Support project schedule management.
Attend project meetings and record minutes.
Assist with closeout information and warranty process.
Perform other duties as assigned.
