Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Aviation business unit in Des Moines, IA. You will lead multiple medium- to large-sized projects, driving schedules, budgets and safety compliance while mentoring others and aligning with company standards.

You will oversee administrative and field construction activities, build stakeholder relationships, and push for value engineering and scope optimization to maximize profitability.

Qualifications

• Education: industry-related college degree is required; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Experience: minimum of five (5) years of construction experience with project management; aviation experience preferred.
• Skills: business acumen, leadership, negotiation, communication, and strong construction knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage project schedule and updates; address long lead items and changes.
• Negotiate and execute change orders, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
• Create monthly status reports, owner billings, and financial risk assessments.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and potential scope reductions.
• Ensure safety plans are communicated to the project team and subs.
• Assist with preconstruction efforts and manage buy-out processes.
• Detect constructability issues and ensure adherence to contracts, budgets and scope.
• Recommend staffing, development needs, and promotions; perform other duties as assigned.
