Job summary
Southland Industries is seeking a Project Engineer to support the project team on multiple, potentially large, complex projects. This role acts as a lead technical resource on smaller projects, collaborating with management and stakeholders to keep everyone informed on timelines, budgets, and change orders.
The candidate will interpret plans, assemble submittal documentation, procure materials and services, and participate in selecting subcontractors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems; ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with CADD and Microsoft Office (Excel)
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with management and stakeholders to inform on project timeline and budget
- Manage and track change orders
- Expedite materials and estimate impact of changes
- Interpret plans and specifications
- Assemble submittal packages and required project documentation
- Procure equipment/materials and services; assist in selecting subcontractors
- Analyze and resolve complex project questions
