Job summary

Mark Thomas is hiring a Project Accounting Lead to support the Project Accounting Manager and assume lead responsibilities for project financial health. The role interfaces with project managers to provide financial insight on statuses and requires training and supervisory duties.

Ideal candidates will have 10+ years in project accounting in professional services, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with Deltek Vantagepoint; hybrid work with emphasis on remote in the US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
• 10+ years of project accounting and billing experience in a professional services firm.
• Proficient in Excel; Deltek Vantagepoint experience is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to train, supervise and manage staff workload.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Act as a resource to project accountants for support and guidance.
• Directly supervise and mentor assigned project accountants; conduct career conversations.
• Develop training content and facilitate internal project accounting training.
• Guide project accounting team through complex issues; escalate as needed.
• Lead monthly billing meetings and oversee billing activities.
• Ensure accurate revenue recognition, reporting, and cost posting to projects.
• Analyze project budgets, spend rates, and profitability; provide reporting.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to maintain schedules and milestones.
• Set up new projects with billing terms, rates, and budgets.
