Job summary

Telgian is seeking a Project Accountant to serve as a financial liaison across clients, engineers, contractors, and internal teams. You will work with the Controller to originate and monitor project budgets, facilitate billing, and perform cost and profitability analysis.

You will assist in proposals, project setup, invoicing, AR collections, WIP reviews, and month-end closing. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential, with experience in Deltek Vantagepoint preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• 1–3 years accrual/cost accounting experience required.
• 1–3 years project-based accounting experience required.
• Experience with Architecture and/or Engineering firms is preferred.
• Deltek Vantagepoint software experience preferred.
• Intermediate literacy in Word, Excel, Access, and ERP software.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Controller in developing and submitting standard project proposals and negotiations.
• Complete project setup including contract, budget, not-to-exceed, and change orders.
• Monitor projects and tasks to ensure timely completion and closure.
• Coordinate with contractors to ensure timely invoicing and accurate invoices.
• Prepare and distribute project invoices and coversheets per billing requirements.
• Review accounts receivable aging and contact customers for overdue invoices.
• Process uncollectible receivables as directed.
• Analyze project transactions, WIP, and P&L; record expenses and hours adjustments.
• Review budget variances with the project team and propose actions.
• Prepare periodic reports on revenue, gross margin, and performance.
• Support month-end processing and closing; maintain reconciliations.
• Prepare and submit sales/use tax; support external audits.
