Job summary

Raytheon is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, and optimize aerospace mechanisms and structures in Tucson, AZ. Lead a team, coordinate with IPTs, and ensure on-time delivery within budget and scope.

You will collaborate with government customers, suppliers, and Raytheon factory operations, with CAM responsibilities possible. On-site work and potential travel are expected.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree with 8+ years of experience or an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience
• Minimum 5 years of mechanical products or subassembly design, integration, and production support
• Experience with supplier engagement, factory development, and production ramp-up
• Experience with CAD design tools
• Active and transferable U.S. government security clearance and U.S. citizenship are required

Responsibilities

• Lead a small to mid-sized team of engineers to design, develop, integrate, and test mechanical hardware.
• Provide mentorship to junior team members.
• Coordinate with IPT for Technical Data Package and work with RSE/REA/Designer teams.
• Oversee hardware procurement coordination and manage material budget within cost constraints.
• Ensure on-time delivery of compliant hardware with documented pedigree.
• Collaborate with management and government customers in reviews and meetings.
• Support failure investigations and participate in program milestones.
• Present technical and/or cost/schedule content to team members and customers.
• Oversee production factory development, rate ramp-up, and factory assembly processes.
• Collaborate with government customers and suppliers.
• Work independently to meet technical milestones and possibly CAM responsibilities.
