Job summary

Raytheon Technologies in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Senior Principal Structural Engineer to lead detailed structural analyses and testing across development and production programs. The role emphasizes high-temperature materials such as refractory metals, ceramics, and ceramic matrix composites, with a focus on supplying robust designs and validated data.

You will act as a technical SME, develop MA&T processes, review peers’ work, and engage with internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience. An advanced degree may substitute for more experience.
• Experience in structural analysis using PATRAN, NASTRAN, ANSYS or equivalent software.
• Experience in CMH-17 guidelines.
• Experience in high temperature material systems for hypersonic aerospace.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed structural analysis and testing to support all phases of programs.
• Conduct data collection for material characteristics and design tests to address gaps in material understanding.
• Generate test plans to validate analyses and verify hardware compliance to customer requirements.
• Analyze test data to validate models and generate mechanical loads and environments.
• Work with limited oversight on complex problems to provide answers under cost and schedule constraints.
• Coordinate and lead technical peer reviews to ensure technical accuracy of work products.
