Job summary

Advocate Health in Wisconsin seeks an experienced Pharmacy Technician Supervisor to lead technician staff, ensure accurate medication preparation, and support billing and regulatory compliance. The role requires hands-on leadership, training, scheduling, and adherence to HIPAA standards.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of retail pharmacy experience, Wisconsin licensure, and CPhT/ExCPT certification within two years.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy Technician licensure (Wisconsin) and CPhT or ExCPT within two years of hire.
• Certification exams must be taken within the first year if applicable.
• Immunization and BLS certifications may be required per department.
• High school graduate with relevant pharmacy technician experience.
• Typically 3 years of retail pharmacy tech experience including third‑party insurance/Medicare.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversees pharmacy technician staff to ensure timely, accurate work and acts as a department resource.
• Trains and directs staff, creates schedules, and ensures progress tracking and quality.
• Supports HR functions like interviewing and staff development; resolves concerns.
• Gathers and records information into pharmacy systems for billing, verification, and labeling.
• Performs general housekeeping, recalls, returns, and cash handling as needed.
• Manages insurance/billing tasks, prior authorizations, and third‑party submissions.
• Investigates delinquent accounts and reconciles claims and third‑party rejects.
• Processes new patient data entry and inventory control; maintains stock levels.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate patient care knowledge and HIPAA compliance.
