Job summary

US Heart and Vascular is seeking a Lead Nuclear Medicine / PET CT Technologist in Houston, TX, based at Willowbrook Cardiovascular Associates. The role oversees PET/CT procedures, patient prep, dose calculations, and QA in a busy private cardiology setting.

The candidate should be a graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program, ARRT or NMTCB registered, with 2+ years of experience and BLS/CPR certification. Leadership skills and independent work in a fast-paced environment are valued.

Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology.
  • Must be registered with ARRT or NMTCB.
  • 2 years of experience preferred.
  • BLS/CPR Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure cooperation and optimum test results.
  • Prepare stock solutions of radiopharmaceuticals, calculate and administer doses under Physician direction.
  • Perform diagnostic exams including Cardiac PET CT studies; supervise treadmill and start IVs.
  • Measure radioactivity using Geiger counters and scintillation detectors.
  • Maintain radiation safety practices and disposal of radioactive materials.
  • Maintain equipment quality control and dosimetry monitoring program.
  • Maintain records of patient dosing, hot lab management, and regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to audits in a timely manner and oversee PACS/eMR reconciliation.
  • Manage patient volume, scheduling, and communication of appointment/test details.

Description

Lead Nuclear Medicine/PET CT Technologist

Willowbrook Cardiovascular Associates is adding to our team and in search of a full-time Lead Nuclear Medicine / PET CT Technologist in Houston, TX. This position is based in our Dotson Road office location.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Explains procedure to patients to assure cooperation and optimum test results
  • Prepares stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, calculate doses, and administer doses, under direction of Physician
  • Performs diagnostic exams including Cardiac PET CT studies on patients as prescribed by physicians, including treadmill supervision and starting IVs.
  • Measures radioactivity using Geiger counters, scalers and scintillation detectors
  • Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials
  • Maintains quality control of all equipment
  • Maintains records of patient dosing, hot lab management, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintains dosimetry monitoring program
  • Responds to all audits in a timely manner
  • Oversees claim reconciliation within PACs system and eMR
  • Manage patient volume and scheduling
  • Manage patient communication of appointment details, test details, and basic financial responsibility info provided by RCM team

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills
  • Leadership experience preferred
  • Must be confident with working independently in a very busy private cardiology practice setting.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology
  • Must be registered with ARRT or NMTCB
  • 2 years of experience preferred.
  • BLS/CPR Certification
