Qualifications

  • Experience with PET/CT imaging and radiopharmaceutical handling is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for PET/CT exams and explain procedures.
  • Position patients and operate PET/CT scanners per protocol.
  • Perform radiopharmaceutical preparation and administration according to safety guidelines.
  • Monitor patients during procedures and ensure accurate image acquisition.

Role Description

The PET/CT Technologist is a full-time, on-site role based in Houston, TX, responsible for performing PET/CT imaging procedures in a cardiovascular-focused clinical environment. Day-to-day tasks include preparing patients for exams, explaining procedures, positioning patients, and operating PET/CT scanners in accordance with safety and regulatory standards. The technologist will handle radiopharmaceutical preparation and administration in line with protocols, monitor patients during procedures, and ensure accurate image acquisition for diagnostic interpretation by physicians. Additional responsibilities include maintaining equipment, following radiation safety and infection control guidelines, documenting procedures in electronic systems, and collaborating with cardiologists, nurses, and other care team members to deliver timely, high-quality diagnostic services.

Qualifications
  • Strong PET/CT imaging skills, including patient positioning, image acquisition, and quality assurance.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety, radiopharmaceutical handling, and adherence to regulatory and institutional protocols.
  • Ability to interact with patients with empathy, explain procedures clearly, and maintain professional communication with clinical teams.
  • Proficiency in using imaging equipment and related clinical software, with attention to detail in documentation and data entry.
  • Completion of an accredited radiologic technology or nuclear medicine technology program; ARRT (N) or (R) and/or NMTCB certification preferred.
  • Current state licensure or eligibility as required for technologists in Texas, and current BLS certification.
  • Experience in cardiovascular or oncology PET/CT imaging is beneficial, as is experience in outpatient or clinic-based imaging settings.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, safely assist patients with limited mobility, and follow infection control and safety procedures.
  • Demonstrated reliability, ability to work in a team-based environment, and commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care.
