Job summary

US Heart & Vascular in Houston, TX seeks a PRN Nuclear Medicine/PET Technologist to support a busy private cardiology practice. This role involves patient education, radiopharmaceutical preparation, and performing diagnostic PET studies under physician supervision.

You must be a graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program, be ARRT or NMTCB registered, have at least 2 years’ experience, and hold BLS/CPR certification. Day shift with up to 10% travel, minimal weekend coverage.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program.
  • Registered with ARRT or NMTCB.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience.
  • BLS/CPR Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure cooperation and optimal results.
  • Prepare stock solutions of radiopharmaceuticals, calculate doses, and administer under physician direction.
  • Perform diagnostic exams including Cardiac PET studies as prescribed, including treadmill supervision and starting IVs.
  • Measure radioactivity using appropriate instruments.
  • Follow radiation safety techniques and dispose of radioactive materials properly.
  • Maintain quality control of all equipment.
  • Safeguard patient health information privacy.
  • Attend required meetings.
  • Perform related work as required.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Explains procedure to patients to assure cooperation and optimum test results
  • Prepares stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, calculate doses, and administers doses, under direction of Physician
  • Performs diagnostic exams including Cardiac PET studies on patients as prescribed by physician, including treadmill supervision and starting IVs.
  • Measures radioactivity using Geiger counters, scalers and scintillation detectors
  • Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials
  • Maintains quality control of all equipment
  • Safeguard the privacy of patient health information
  • Attends required meetings
  • Performs related work as required

  • Must be experienced and work independently in a very busy private cardiology practice setting
