Join our team as a Payroll Specialist and support the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) by protecting private‑sector pension plans and supporting their continuation. In this role, you will ensure efficient payroll operations, directly contributing to the retirement security of millions of Americans. Work Schedule and Location: On‑Site: This full‑time on‑site position will work Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM at The PBGC Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities
  • Administer the payroll system: grant access, designate roles, reset passwords, train and support users
  • Process bi‑weekly time and attendance: review timesheets, clarify items, forward error reports, release timesheets for processing
  • Adjust timecards: review manual changes, verify calculations, forward for processing
  • Handle payroll deductions: record, track, verify documents, and make changes upon request
  • Update payroll records: maintain records securely for new, transferred, or terminated employees
  • Administer transit subsidy program: update info, assist with fund allocation
  • Process subsidized parking program: track payments, reconcile employees, submit totals to accounting
  • Provide customer service: respond to inquiries, resolve issues, elevate complex problems
  • Audit records: correct as needed based on audits and investigations
  • Develop reports: create special reports as requested by the Contracting Officer's Representative
  • Update standard operating procedures: assist with creating and updating procedures and policies related to payroll
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field
  • At least 1 year of payroll processing experience
  • Knowledge of payroll systems, preferably QuickTime and FPPS
  • Understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and agency policies and procedures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Familiarity with Federal Employee terminology, payroll processes, and retirement systems
  • Proficiency in ADP, Paychex, or QuickBooks Payroll
