Job summary

Alamance County Parks and Recreation seeks a Park Maintenance Technician II to lead a team of Technician I and seasonal staff, performing oversee tasks across grounds, facilities, and trails. The role requires troubleshooting, scheduling preventive maintenance, inventory control, and ensuring safety standards.

Work includes outdoor duties in varying weather, operating mowing and landscaping equipment, and coordinating with park guests to provide reliable, safe park services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in a related field preferred.
• Valid driver's license
• Demonstrated experience in park maintenance or a related field.
• Knowledge of landscaping, grounds maintenance, and building maintenance practices.
• Ability to transport, operate, and maintain a variety of equipment, including heavy equipment.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to lead and supervise others.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work a rotating schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform landscaping and grounds maintenance such as mowing, trimming hedges, trees, and trail maintenance.
• Maintain park facilities, equipment, and infrastructure including restrooms, picnic areas, playgrounds, and trails.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical problems.
• Oversee and coordinate work of Technician I and seasonal staff; provide guidance and training as needed.
• Inspect facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs and ensure safety standards.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules.
• Manage inventory of supplies and equipment; maintain maintenance records.
• Interact with park visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
• Follow all safety procedures and regulations; assist with events setup and teardown.
