Job summary

Albemarle County is seeking a skilled parks maintenance supervisor to oversee grounds, facilities, and infrastructure. You will supervise seasonal staff, coordinate daily maintenance, and respond to emergencies including snow events.

The role requires operating and maintaining park equipment, following safety guidelines, and assisting with budget inputs and procurement for repairs. Some weekend work is expected.

Qualifications

• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school
• Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Two years' experience in operation of motorized equipment and grounds maintenance

Responsibilities

• Supervise subordinate personnel and assign work in the absence of the Regional Park Supervisor
• Coordinate, schedule, and perform daily work for maintenance of park buildings, grounds, fields and equipment
• Operate and maintain vehicles and equipment; assist with snow removal and emergencies
• Instruct employees on safe operation of equipment and use of safety gear and chemicals
• Prepare annual operating and capital budget inputs and manage procurement for repairs
• Perform grounds maintenance such as mowing, litter removal, turf management and minor construction
• Support scheduling for buildings, shelters, fields and special events
• Perform repairs in electrical, plumbing, painting and related trades as needed
