Job summary

The City of Durham Parks and Recreation is seeking a maintenance crew lead to support construction, installation and upkeep of park properties and amenities. Responsibilities include carpentry, masonry, mowing, field prep, and operating a range of maintenance equipment.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSet, TASC).
Three years of equipment operation/driving or specialized maintenance experience.
Valid NC Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record required.
Experience operating commercial landscaping equipment including tractors, zero-turn mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers, hedge trimmers, and chainsaws.

Responsibilities

Lead a crew on construction, installation and maintenance of park properties and amenities.
Operate park maintenance equipment and power tools; perform servicing and preventative maintenance.
Perform landscaping, turf care, and field preparation for park facilities.
Maintain supplies, inventory, and records; prepare routine reports.
Provide customer service and respond to questions or concerns.
