Job summary

The City of Durham Parks and Recreation seeks a skilled crew lead to support construction, maintenance, and installation of park properties and amenities. Duties include carpentry, masonry, mowing, field prep, inspections, and equipment operation.

City-issued devices and Cityworks documentation are used to track work. Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent, at least three years of equipment operation or maintenance, and an NC driver’s license (Class C; Class B a plus).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Three years of equipment operation or specialized maintenance experience.
• Valid NC driver’s license (Class C) with clean driving record. Class B endorsed preferred.
• Basic computer/smartphone proficiency and willingness to use Cityworks.
• Pesticide license and turf management experience are a plus.
• Availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, and weather-related shifts.

Responsibilities

• Lead a crew on construction, installation, and maintenance of park properties and amenities.
• Perform carpentry, masonry, mowing, park inspections, and athletic field prep.
• Operate and maintain park maintenance equipment; schedule repairs; manage inventory.
• Provide customer service and respond to questions; document work in Cityworks.
• Drive a truck with a trailer between sites; perform related duties.
