Definition

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
• Must have a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina.

Supervisory Controls

The Crew Leader assigns work in terms of somewhat general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with instructions and established procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

Guidelines

Guidelines include the Personnel Policy Manual; OSHA regulations; work zone safety standards; and equipment operation and repair manuals. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application.

Complexity

The work consists of related maintenance duties. Inclement weather contributes to the complexity of the work.

The purpose of this position is to assist in the maintenance of City parks. Success in this position contributes to a well-maintained City park grounds and facilities.

Physical Demands

Balancing Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. The amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.

Climbing Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.

Crawling Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.

Work Environment
