Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED and one year of EMT experience or an associate's degree in emergency medical care.
• Certification by the NC Department of Human Resources Office of EMS and the NC Board of Medical Examiners as an EMT-Paramedic required.
• Must have a valid NC driver's license. Higher education may substitute part of the experience.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergency calls as an ambulance driver or attendant.
• Performs necessary rescue work, administers emergency medical care, and transports to medical facilities.
• Starts and maintains intravenous infusion; administers solutions and medications.
• Maintains ambulance and equipment in proper working order.
• Acts as a Preceptor for new employees and students.
• Conducts tours and talks on emergency medical services as requested.
