Job summary

New Virginia Majority is seeking a full-time Lead Organizer to develop and execute organizing strategy around Virginia data center campaigns. The role involves recruiting, engaging, activating, and retaining community members, developing leaders, and building community-based leadership while coordinating trainings and education.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience as a grassroots organizer.
• At least 1 year of experience supervising organizers.
• Experience leading an organizing campaign and building coalitions.

Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with community members.
• Recruit community members to become paid members of NVM.
• Train and develop members into community leaders with trainings.
• Plan and execute meetings, trainings, and leadership development.
• Provide guidance to entry level organizers on door-knocking and tactics.
• Develop relationships with external organizations and officials.
• Timely follow up with leads from field efforts.
• Manage regular membership meetings with agendas and actions.
• Mobilize members at events and track engagement in databases.
• Develop political education materials and leadership development.
• Support leaders and participate in campaign development.
• Build campaign coalitions and key relationships with allies.
