Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in San Rafael, CA seeks a Senior Surgical Technician to support the surgical team across pre-, intra-, and post-operative activities. You will assist with instruments, positioning, and aseptic technique, and help maintain OR readiness and safety.

The role requires current OR experience and BLS, with a preference for certified Surgical Technicians and broad specialty exposure. Must be able to train others and work in a team-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of current acute Operating Room experience.
• High School Diploma/GED.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Surgical Technicians certified by relevant associations preferred.
• Experience across minimally invasive, general, ENT, orthopedics, vascular and other specialties.
• Willing to train RNs and other staff in scrub role.

Responsibilities

• Direct, check, review and coordinate work of other Surgical Technicians.
• Configure and arrange equipment and supplies in the OR; ensure sterility and readiness.
• Assist with patient positioning, scrubbing, gowning and gloving as directed.
• Hand instruments to surgeon; maintain counts before/after procedures.
• Assist with room turnover and instrument sterilization.
• Support patient safety and quality initiatives in the unit.
