Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in California seeks a Surgical Technician to assist the surgical team before, during, and after procedures, providing expert instrument support and equipment maintenance to ensure safety and efficiency.

You will supervise and train junior staff, coordinate setup and turnover, scrub in for procedures, hand instruments to surgeons, count sponges and instruments, and support patient positioning and sterile technique throughout complex surgeries.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum two years of current acute Operating Room experience.
• Basic Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

• Direct, check, review and coordinate work of Surgical Technicians; supervise staff.
• Coordinate equipment setup and ensure sterility of instruments.
• Scrub, gown, glove, and assist during procedures as directed.
• Hand instruments to surgeon and assist circulating nurse during operation.
• Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after cases.
• Contribute to patient safety and room turnover efficiency.
