Job summary

Marshall B. Ketchum University seeks a customer service oriented Optician to lead patient care in the optical department. You will assist in selecting, fitting, and educating patients while ensuring high-quality service and accurate dispensing.

The role requires ABO certification, 1 year in optical retail, and strong customer service skills. Training interns and collaborating with the Optical Director are key parts of the job.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of optical devices and applications.
• Proven customer service excellence and sales ability.
• Ability to promote and sell optical products.
• Familiarity with insurance claims procedures.
• Strong medical terminology and prescription interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Lead patient care and establish rapport with patients and customers.
• Sell, educate, and demonstrate optical products to optimize profitability.
• Measure and dispense spectacles; provide follow-up adjustments and repairs.
• Instruct interns on frame and lens selection per curriculum.
• Provide feedback on intern performance to Optical Director.
• Review lab orders, fee slips, and dispensing paperwork for accuracy.
• Ensure excellent service in person or over the phone.
• Be flexible for station changes when staff are absent.
• Submit and process spectacle orders; receive jobs from labs.
• Maintain regular attendance per university policy.
