Join to apply for the Machine Operator Lead role at Utz Brands, Inc.

Utz Quality Foods is seeking a dedicated Weekend Day Shift Packaging Machine Operator Lead to join our team at the High Street facility in Hanover, PA. This key position will support the Production Supervisor in managing daily production operations and ensuring packaging activities run smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist the Packaging Supervisor in overseeing all production activities.
  2. Maintain constant communication with the supervisor regarding downtime, production challenges, and product overflow.
  3. Work with plant leadership to ensure accurate ERP functionality and resolve discrepancies.
  4. Schedule personnel efficiently to meet daily production goals.
  5. Monitor packaging stations every hour, checking code dates, weight, seal integrity, bag waste, and machine efficiency.
  6. Maintain knowledge of RedZone, 6S principles, and Continuous Improvement strategies.
  7. Use EAM to input work orders and track preventative maintenance tasks.
  8. Oversee attendance and assist in training new hires.
  9. Evaluate individual performance and ensure packaging standards are met.
  10. Separate and remove questionable finished products for review by the Shift Manager.
  11. Perform duties of a PMO, Fryer, and Finished Goods Handler as needed.
  12. Follow all safety protocols, report unsafe practices, and ensure safe working conditions.
  13. Adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  14. Take responsibility for food safety and quality tasks for the position.
Requirements
  1. Ability to work the required shift of Friday-Sunday 6:00AM-6:00PM.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment, preferably in a leadership role.
  3. Proven ability to lead, motivate, and supervise a team.
  4. Previous experience in the food manufacturing industry, specifically with food safety standards like SQF or HACCP.
  5. Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred, but not required).
  6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
  7. Knowledge of safety standards, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety protocols.
  8. Ability to handle multiple tasks and adjust to changing priorities as needed.
  9. Excellent problem-solving skills, especially related to production challenges and downtime.
