Scan Global Logistics is seeking an experienced Ocean Freight Manager in Elizabeth, NJ to oversee ARG international ocean import/export operations and lead the Ocean Freight team. This on-site role requires strong leadership and a track record of delivering service excellence.

Responsibilities include regulatory compliance, carrier relations, documentation review, and cost optimization while coordinating with sales and other departments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in ocean freight forwarding, preferably ARG/NGO/humanitarian logistics (imports and exports).
• Minimum 2 years in supervisory or management roles in freight/logistics.
• Experience with ITAR compliance and US export controls for international freight forwarding.
• Experience managing project cargo shipments (complex, oversized, heavy-lift).
• Strong knowledge of ocean freight operations, customs, trade compliance.
• Experience with ocean carriers, NVOCCs, brokers, trucking, overseas agents.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Proficient in Excel and freight forwarding/platform systems.

Responsabilités

• Oversee all ocean import/export operations from origin to delivery.
• Lead and develop the Ocean Freight team with coaching and feedback.
• Serve as escalation point for operational issues and customer concerns.
• Ensure compliance with ITAR, FMC, export controls and policies.
• Review and approve shipping documents (Bills of Lading, invoices, origin docs).
• Build strong relationships with customers, carriers, brokers, and agents.
• Negotiate rates and contracts to balance service and profitability.
• Monitor KPIs and manage shipment visibility via TMS/ERP.
