About the Role

Our client, a major force in the mining industry, is seeking an experienced Lead Occupational Hygienist to join their team in East London, Eastern Cape. This is an essential on-site role focused on safeguarding the health and well-being of employees by identifying, evaluating, and controlling workplace hazards. You will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive occupational health and hygiene programs across various mining operations. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and promoting a proactive safety culture. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in occupational hygiene, a thorough understanding of mining-specific health risks, and a commitment to maintaining the highest health and safety standards in the East London region.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement occupational hygiene programs to monitor and control exposure to chemical, physical, and biological hazards.
• Conduct workplace risk assessments, including noise surveys, air sampling, and ergonomic evaluations.

• Ensure compliance with all relevant occupational health and safety legislation and standards.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Occupational Hygiene, Environmental Health, or a related field.

• Proficiency in using occupational hygiene monitoring equipment and interpreting results.
