About the Role

Our client, a major mining operation based in Welkom , Free State, is actively recruiting for an experienced Industrial Engineer. This role is integral to optimizing the efficiency and productivity of our extensive mining operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing complex mining processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategic solutions to enhance performance, reduce operational costs, and ensure the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply advanced industrial engineering methodologies within a demanding and critical sector. Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize all aspects of the mining value chain, including extraction, processing, and logistics.
• Develop and implement innovative engineering solutions to improve productivity, reduce cycle times, and minimize waste.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic analyses for proposed process improvements and capital investments.
• Design and implement robust systems for performance monitoring and control, utilizing data analytics.
• Collaborate closely with mine managers, engineers, and operational teams to ensure effective implementation of changes.
• Ensure adherence to stringent safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
• Develop and maintain detailed process documentation, standard operating procedures, and training materials.
• Identify and evaluate new technologies and equipment that can enhance operational efficiency and safety.
• Lead and mentor a team of junior engineers and technical staff.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on operational performance and strategic recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree is advantageous.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in industrial engineering, with a significant focus on mining or heavy industrial operations.
• Proven experience in applying Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies in an operational setting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex operational data.
• Proficiency in process simulation software and data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python for data science).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management capabilities.
• Experience with large-scale project implementation and change management.
• Familiarity with South African mining regulations and safety standards.
• Ability to work effectively in a challenging, remote, and operational environment.
