Job summary

U.S. Bank in Atlanta, GA is seeking a senior Observability Engineer to lead strategy across critical customer journeys, aligning monitoring with business outcomes and reliability goals.

You will define SLI/SLOs, error budgets, and dashboards to improve availability and customer experience. Collaborating with Product, Engineering, SRE, and Operations, you will guide instrumentation, telemetry standards, and alerting models, leveraging Datadog, Dynatrace, and other tools to reduce alert fatigue

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience.
• Four to five years of relevant work experience in IT/production support, risk analysis, or product/project management.
• Experience with observability tooling and reliability engineering practices is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead Observability Strategy across critical customer journeys with business outcomes.
• Define, implement, and govern SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets for enterprise apps.
• Design scalable Observability Architectures, instrumentation, and alerting models.
• Establish Observability Governance for dashboards and telemetry standards.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, SRE, and Operations to ensure production readiness.
• Develop and optimize Service Health Dashboards and reporting on availability and latency.
• Analyze telemetry, incidents, and trends to reduce alert fatigue and improve detection.
• Provide leadership on distributed tracing, logging, metrics, and APM/RUM best practices.
