Job summary

X Energy, LLC is seeking a Heat Exchanger Design Engineer in Gaithersburg, MD. You will develop mechanical concepts, analyze SSCs for nuclear safety, and produce CAD models for reactor components, reporting to project leads with opportunities to mentor junior engineers.

The role requires staging prototypes, testing, and commissioning to deliver robust, manufacturable designs in a regulated environment. 4 days in-office, up to 10% travel, strong collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical concepts and SSCs for nuclear products with focus on safety.
• Perform analyses to ensure SSCs meet design and technical requirements.
• Create and maintain CAD models of reactor SSCs.
• Lead design reviews and mentor junior team members.
