Job summary

X-energy LLC is seeking a Heat Exchanger Design Engineer to lead mechanical design and development of SSCs for nuclear products. The role covers concept development, analysis, prototyping, testing, and commissioning, with emphasis on safety and compliance with codes and standards.

You will create CAD models, perform sizing calculations, and collaborate across teams to ensure manufacturability and integration while mentoring junior engineers and staying current with industry trends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical/physical concepts, design and support development of SSCs for nuclear products with a focus on nuclear safety.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to define requirements, interfaces, design basis and criteria.
• Plan and perform analyses to ensure SSCs meet technical requirements and design criteria.
• Perform hand calculations and use analytical tools for structural, thermal and other calculations.
• Develop mechanical solutions for X-energy reactors, including pressure vessels and reactor internals.
• Create and maintain CAD models of reactor SSCs.
• Assess manufacturability, assembly and integration considerations.
• Prepare design documentation and verification/validation plans.
• Ensure work complies with X-energy quality procedures and delivers independent reviews of engineering data.
• Mentor junior team members and stay updated on industry best practices.
