Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Network Design Engineer Architect/Lead for the Next Generation Environment (NGE) on the IRES contract. The role is based at Fort Belvoir, VA, and involves leading architecture, modernization, and governance across DoD networks.

You will mentor engineers, translate mission needs into roadmaps, and design Cisco Nexus EVPN‑VXLAN fabrics, NSX, Versa SD‑WAN, F5 BIG-IP, and Infoblox DDI for secure, multi-cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Must have 12+ years of general (full-time) work experience.
• Must have 6+ years of directly related experience designing and leading large-scale DoD networks.
• Must have 1+ year in a management or leadership role.
• Expert level knowledge of routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS), EVPN/VXLAN, MPLS, QoS, IPv6, multicast, and resiliency.

Responsibilities

• Lead Network Architecture and governance across multi-contractor program.
• Mentor and manage a team of network design and implementation engineers.
• Architect scalable data center fabrics and hybrid multi-cloud networking.
• Define security, zero-trust, and ICAM integration across environments.
