Job summary

Northern Technologies Group seeks a Network Design Architect/Lead to drive enterprise network architecture for the MDA IRES program. You will lead cross‑functional teams, develop scalable data center fabrics, and ensure DoD compliance across multiple contractors.

The role requires a DoD secret clearance, 12+ years of network design leadership, and hands‑on experience with NX‑OS, NSX/VCF, and F5 BIG‑IP. Expect high‑level briefings and architecture governance across government and industry

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen.
• Active DoD Secret clearance.
• 12+ years of full‑time work experience; reduced with advanced education.
• 6+ years designing/leading large‑scale enterprise/DoD networks.
• 1+ year in a management/leadership role.
• Expert knowledge of routing and switching incl. BGP/OSPF/IS‑IS, EVPN‑VXLAN, MPLS, QoS, IPv6.
• Experience implementing Zero Trust segmentation, 802.1X/NAC, identity‑aware policies, FIPS cryptography.
• Familiarity with hybrid/multi‑cloud patterns and RMF/STIG compliance.
• Current IAT III or IAM II baseline certification (CISSP/CASP+ CE/CISM).
• Excellent communication to brief senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Lead Network Integrator across the program enterprise, aligning roadmaps and ICDs among government stakeholders and industry partners.
• Serve as a technical advisor to government leaders; translate mission needs into network roadmaps and engineering trade studies.
• Mentor a multidisciplinary team of network engineers; manage task assignments, design reviews, and deliverables.
• Architect scalable data center fabrics using Spine‑Leaf, Cisco Nexus NX‑OS, and EVPN‑VXLAN.
• Integrate data center networking with VMware NSX/VCF to enable SDN and micro‑segmentation.
• Design enterprise load balancing with F5 BIG‑IP (LTM/GTM/APM) and high‑availability routing across hybrid clouds.
• Govern IP addressing, DNS, DHCP frameworks with Infoblox DDI, integrated with cloud orchestration.
• Define network segmentation, 802.1X/NAC, and cryptography with IPsec/MACsec.
