Job summary

WSP is seeking a LiDAR Technician III Project Coordinator/QA/QC to support our Mobile LiDAR and Geospatial/Surveying teams across multiple North Carolina and other US offices. The role covers project setup, data QA/QC, and ensuring data accuracy while collaborating with processing, extraction, and project managers.

You will mentor junior extractors, maintain SOPs, stay current with software, and contribute to workflow improvements, driving efficient project delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of Mobile LiDAR experience.
• Ability to work independently, and as part of a diverse team.
• Working knowledge of surveying mathematics and land surveying procedures.
• Proficiency in Bentley software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
• Experience with field operations.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Experience with TopoDOT, TerraSolid software preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Able to work within a team environment and collaborate.
• Competent self-leadership with attention to detail and prioritization in a dynamic environment.
• Must pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.

Responsibilities

• Set up projects, seed files, build cell libraries, and contribute with feature extraction.
• Coordinate with and QA/QC other team members’ extraction efforts.
• Prepare final deliverables and reports.
• Identify workflows to maximize efficiency for each job.
• Mentor and train new extractors as the department grows.
• Maintain SOP documentation.
• Stay current with industry software updates.
• Lead project managers and team members in LiDAR registration and extraction.
• Review Mobile LiDAR control data and various data formats.
• Create and review digital models and mapping of LiDAR and traditional surveys.
• Assist with client interactions to meet scope of work.
• Observe safety rules and company policies.
• Write surveying reports summarizing site inspections and findings.
• Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and technicians on tasks.
• Coordinate project activities with client personnel.
