Job summary

Cooper Green Mercy is seeking a Medical Technologist Lead to perform and supervise routine and complex laboratory procedures, ensure quality control, and assist with instrument evaluation and maintenance. The role supports problem resolution in the absence of a supervisor in a demanding lab environment.

Qualified candidates hold an Associate degree with at least one year of related experience, MLT certification (ASCP/AMT), and BLS certification.

Qualifications

Associates Degree and one year of related work experience.
Currently Certified as a Medical Lab Technician (MLT) with the ASCP or AMT.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot control and instrument problems, document actions, and maintain throughput.
Verify test results for clerical and clinical accuracy; address patient-related complaints.
Assist with monthly QC data collection and notify supervisor of errors or trends.
Troubleshoot controls and instruments; provide expert advice on resolving issues.
Handle issues with reference lab testing and work with providers on lab orders and corrections.
Monitor supplies, dating, and storage of reagents; maintain reagent logs and control systems.
Perform preventative maintenance on analyzers and instruments, including calibrations and quality assessments.
Conduct hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, and reference lab testing per safety protocols; assist with quality control problems.
Assist supervisor in regulatory readiness (CAP, OSHA); participate in CAP inspections and update policies.
Train and review work of new staff and students.
Other duties as assigned.
