Job summary

North Mississippi Health Services is seeking a Medical Technologist Lead to assist with scheduling, quality control, maintenance programs, and workflow organization in the laboratory setting.

The role includes ensuring proper transportation of lab supplies and specimens while complying with all laws and regulations. It requires leadership in the absence of the supervisor and coordination with NMHS staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates workflow of phlebotomists in Specimen Processing area.
• Serves as Charge Medical Technologist (MT) in absence of supervisor or Lead MT.
• Assures accurate and efficient transportation of lab-related supplies, equipment and specimens.
• Follows all laws and regulations in the processing and transportation of laboratory specimens.
• Follows regulatory guidelines in handling/processing of laboratory specimens.
• Follows proper policy for accurate patient identification and labeling of all specimens.
• Effectively communicate with all NMHS staff, patients, their family members and customers.
• Uses AIDET as applicable.
• Attends CARES training.
• When necessary, assures proper service recovery is done for patients and/or caregivers.
• Works as part of a team with all Pathology and NMHS employees.
• Assures department testing, applicable to their area, is reported in an accurate and timely manner.
• Assists with meeting goals of department Performance Improvement initiatives.
• Assures appropriate documentation of all required instrument monthly maintenance and quality control.
• Assists with training of students and new employees.
• Participates in continuing education programs to maintain and expand skills.
• Stays abreast of regulatory changes.
• Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines.
• Complies with appropriate Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues.
• Adheres to College of American Pathologist (CAP) & Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) standards.
