Job summary

North Mississippi Health Services is seeking a Medical Technologist Lead to support supervision, quality control, and workflow in the Pathology department. The role includes coordinating phlebotomy workflow and ensuring proper transport of lab supplies and specimens.

The Lead MT will serve as the Charge MT in the absence of supervision, uphold CAP/CLSI standards, and assist with training of students and new employees while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology is required.
• Knowledge of CAP/CLSI standards is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates work flow of phlebotomists in Specimen Processing area.
• Serves as Charge Medical Technologist (MT) in absence of supervisor or Lead MT.
• Assures accurate and efficient transportation of lab-related supplies, equipment and specimens.
• Follows regulatory guidelines in handling/processing of laboratory specimens.
• Assists with training of students and new employees.
• Participates in continuing education programs to maintain and expand skills.
• Assists with meeting goals of department Performance Improvement initiatives.
• Assures appropriate documentation of all required instrument monthly maintenance and quality control.
